Benefits of Routine Yoga Bridge Pose on Physical and Mental

Bridge pose is a yoga pose that has many benefits. Starting from strengthening legs, giving energy to physical health, to helping maintain mental health.

Can be done with various modifications and variations to make this yoga pose the right choice for those who are just starting yoga  or who are already proficient.

There are many benefits to doing the yoga bridge pose regularly

To do the yoga  bridge pose , follow these steps.

Lie on your back, bend your knees, place your feet flat on the mat. Position your heels vertically with your tailbone. Strengthen your thighs and tailbone and lift your hips up. Position the chin against the chest. Place your arms pressed to the floor and you can place your fists between your heels.

If this puts too much pressure on the lower back, you can modify it by placing a buffer block on the coccyx. This is called restoration modification.

Whichever modification and variation you use, the yoga bridge pose provides a variety of health benefits that are worth a try.

The physical benefits of the yoga  bridge pose

For those of you who are not athletes, the bridge pose  will pull the front body and the back body, creating space between the spine and reducing pressure on the discs (vertebrae). This movement is an alternative back pain reliever .

The bridge pose has the benefit of stretching and strengthening the muscles of the body and helping to improve posture.

Many people spend hours bending over at work desks. This causes the shoulders to bend forward and the tension in the chest. Therefore, this activity can weaken the muscles in the back and neck.

When doing a bridge pose , the shoulder will press on the floor and the chest will open. If done routinely, this pose can help improve hunched posture on the shoulder.

This pose also helps you develop awareness in the muscles in the legs and helps build strength in the supporting muscles in your legs and hips.

Other benefits of yoga bridge poses  for the body:

  • Relieves discomfort during menstruation .
  • Therapy for asthma, high blood pressure, and sinusitis.
  • Reduces anxiety, fatigue, back pain, headaches, and insomnia.

Benefits for mental health

Yoga is called physical effort which can lead the mind to calm. Over the last few years many studies have looked at the role of yoga on mental health. Yoga bridge pose movements  reduce feelings of anxiety, stress, and reduce mild depression.

A study entitled Exploring the therapeutic effects of yoga and its ability to increase quality of life , shows some of the benefits of yoga on mental health.

The results of these studies suggest that doing yoga can improve recovery and treatment of addictions, reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep patterns, and improve overall well-being.

Yoga as a whole, including the bridge pose , has a variety of health benefits . However, to do certain poses still need to be careful.

For some people with medical conditions in the knee and neck pain, they need to first consult a doctor about doing yoga, especially the bridge pose .
